Text back callers you miss while on a job

When nobody can pick up, the caller gets a text in seconds asking what they need, so the job doesn't go to the next plumber on the list.

Worth it if

You miss calls during the day and haven't turned it on yet.

Skip it if

Someone answers every call live during business hours.

Not really AI, still worth it It's a simple automatic text. It still pays for itself fast.

What gets set up

This one is mostly plain automation. When a call is missed, your phone system sends a text right away asking what's going on. Homeowners answer texts, and the office picks up the thread. Housecall Pro has this in its phone settings and Jobber's Receptionist add-on texts back callers who hang up.

Who’s done it

Nobody has published results for this one yet, so this use case rests on my judgment. If you’ve done it, tell me how it went.

Why it matters

Most plumbing calls come in while your hands are full. Homeowners with a leak won't leave a voicemail and wait; they call someone else.

How I estimated the hours

0.5 to 1 hrs a week: Calling back 10 to 20 missed calls a week at 3 to 4 minutes each, with many sorted by text instead. Rounded down.

Questions

Check your field software first. Housecall Pro has a missed-call text setting and Jobber's Receptionist add-on texts back callers who hang up.

For daytime missed calls it's usually the better first step: cheaper, simpler and less to go wrong. An AI receptionist earns its keep after hours.
