Worth it if

Your office fields more than a handful of how-do-I and what's-the-price calls a day, and you have your price book and manuals in files somewhere.

Skip it if

Your techs rarely call in, or your answers live only in one person's head. Write them down first.

What gets set up

You set up a shared assistant (a Claude Project, for example) and load it with the things your office looks up: your price book, install manuals for the equipment you sell, your warranty rules, and your how-we-do-it notes. Techs ask it from their phone and get an answer pulled from your own documents. Anything about money or a customer's account still goes to the office.

Who’s done it

Techs scan a nameplate and ask AI about that exact unit

Bluon's equipment database is built into ServiceTitan's AI assistant so techs can pull warranty, documents and parts for the unit in front of them.

Use case estimate: 1 to 3 hrs a week ours, not theirs

What they did. A tech scans the nameplate to see the unit's age, warranty status, documents and parts, then asks model-specific questions like how to wire a defrost board.

How it went. No measured results yet. The interview describes expected benefits, not outcomes.

Worth knowing. This is an interview with the vendor's CEO in a trade magazine, so treat it as a vendor claim. Integrations with Housecall Pro and BuildOps were announced, not live.

You’ll need

  • Your price book and the install manuals you use most, as PDFs or documents
  • A short list of questions techs should still call the office about
  • Phones your techs will actually use it on

Try it

You are the field assistant for [company name], an HVAC company. Answer technicians' questions using only the documents in this project: our price book, install manuals and job notes. Keep answers short enough to read on a phone. If the answer isn't in the documents, say so and tell them to call the office. Never quote a price that isn't in the price book. Never guess at wiring or gas work; point them to the manual page instead.

Read what it gives you before you send or use it. You know your customers; it doesn’t.

Run your own numbers

Count the crew calls the office takes on a normal day, then multiply by five.

Why it matters

The office phone rings all day with the same kinds of questions: what's the part number on this unit, what did we quote last time, what's our price for a capacitor, how do I wire this board. Every call pulls someone off what they were doing, and the tech waits.

How I estimated the hours

1 to 3 hrs a week: 10 to 15 crew calls to the office a day at 3 to 5 minutes each, with about half answered by the assistant. Rounded down.

Questions

Only from your own documents, and never as a substitute for the manual on gas or electrical work. Set it up to quote the manual page and to say "call the office" when it isn't sure.

No. ServiceTitan's Atlas assistant does a version of this inside the app, but a shared Claude Project loaded with your own files works for any shop.
