When you can't pick up, the caller gets a text in seconds asking what they need, so the conversation keeps going instead of ending at voicemail.
Also written up for Plumbing: Text back callers you miss while on a job.
You miss calls during the day and don't already have it turned on. Check your field software first; you may be paying for it already.
Your phones are answered live all day and you rarely miss a call.
Not really AI, still worth it This is plain automation. It's still one of the best returns on this whole list.
Honestly, most of this isn't AI. Your phone system notices the missed call and sends an automatic text: "Sorry we missed you, this is [company]. What can we help with?" Homeowners answer texts they'd never leave a voicemail for. Some tools add AI on top to keep the text conversation going and offer times, but the plain version does most of the work.

No. Text-back is a simple automatic text when you miss a call. An AI receptionist answers the call itself. Text-back is cheaper and easier, and for daytime missed calls it's usually the better first step.
Maybe. Housecall Pro has a missed-call text setting in its phone settings, and Jobber's Receptionist add-on texts back callers who hang up. Check what you pay for before adding a new tool.
